Gorgon CCS is the world's largest pure carbon capture and storage operation. Since 2019, it has been weakly sputtering away out on Barrow Island at Australia's highest emitting industrial facility.

Did you know that Woodside's Browse gas project – starting in the early 2030s at the soonest – will likely get to pretend that it has always existed under Australia's climate pollution laws in order to avoid laws specifically put in place to hold that project to a higher standard?

Estimated annual emissions allowance for Browse gas project under Australia's climate pollution laws Substantial loopholes in Australia's climate pollution laws mean that Woodside's Browse project may avoid being treated as a new facility under laws specifically designed to hold that project to a higher standard. This is occurring even though the project will not commence until the early 2030s at the soonest. It is new by any reasonable measure. The total benefit of this loophole to Woodside and its joint venture partners is in the order of $210 million.

My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace.
