Academic focusing on employee engagement, entrepreneurship, fun, play, pedagogy, and more. One of the authors of "Ludic Pedagogy: A Seriously Fun Way to Teach and Learn." Eager idea-chaser, for better or worse.

The So What? Project - Episode 3: "Getting Learning Right: The Promise of Higher Education" feat. Kristi Girdharry.

As a book, Getting Learning Right asks what higher ed could become if colleges and universities organized themselves around how students actually learn.

I've sometimes used this story as a case study in management decision making. For whatever reason, I've never included consideration of "what would AI do?" That will no longer be the case.
Not everybody knows this, and everybody should. On Sept. 26, 1983, a Soviet nuclear warning system alerted Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov that the U.S. had launched a missile attack. He did not retaliate, preventing WWIII.
This is a post about AI.

Our first episode is now live!

The So What? Project is a short-form #podcast featuring #academics discussing their recent #research.

Please, as they say, like and subscribe. Let's help researchers share their work to a wider audience. (And grant the host some mercy - I'm not made for media.)

TIL how to really actually truly gird my loins.
The fall term starts next week. Loins girded. I am ready to teach, writing is coming around, research agenda is about planned, not totally ready for committee meetings, but let's do this.

Dolly gave us all an ideal to aspire to.
Imagine being talented and beautiful and rich and famous and still the most noteworthy thing about you is how good a person you are.

Who wants to help me launch a podcast encompassing all disciplines called "It's Not Boring!" where academics spend seven minutes excitedly talking about their latest publication in terms understandable to the general public?

What makes play, especially to adults, so rewarding? Why is playing fun?

It’s about honing predictive processing—“When we play, we deliberately choose to increase uncertainty in order to experience the pleasure of reducing it”
