Back on my musical #Xena #webcomic, I believe its themes are relevant now:
1) Fear & anger are powerful servants, but terrible masters
2) You have more allies than you think
Here’s a pep talk from it, sung by Xena herself at a moment when all seems lost:

Troy Jackson: "Sen. Collins says that she voted against it 9 times, but she didn't have the votes. Well, that sounds like then we probably ought to have Democrats in charge of the Senate so we have the votes to stop this war and hold Donald Trump in check. It sounds like Republicans won't do that."

Every single time I posted political content with no exception I got a lot of hateful/angry comments on Instagram.
Yesterday I posted about the student protests in France so I was kinda expecting some insults, and… Nothing. Just 200+ nice comments.
I wonder if it could be connected to this.
According to Cloudflare Data Explorer the amount of russian bot traffic has dropped to 49% after Ukraine struck a yandex data center.

The one (1) strategic lesson Dems in power need to learn from the last two years is that these fascist fuckers moved FAST. They knew the clock was ticking and broke as much as they could, as fast as they could. So don't fuck around for 2 years "building coalitions" or whatever
what i want out of the next two years of an at least partially democrat-controlled congress is robust dossiers on every criminal in this administration ready for relevant agency heads and state governments at 12pm on january 20, 2028. impeachments are one avenue to help build them

I'm so *not* interested in predicting how movies will open, or guessing what the opening will mean for the box office total, or any of that stuff. But I do know box office alone does not indicate whether a film is a financial success, especially long-term. There are so many revenue streams now.

I do think it's weird that more of the richest directors and actors in Hollywood don't pool their money and create studios as the system they work in is dismantled by tech bros and billionaires.

New studios can still become behemoths. A24 is less than 15 years old.

Congress needs to audit the White House and cut funding controlled by the president to the bone. What’s the minimum budget required for him to be housed, fed, and staffed to do the basics of the job? That should be his annual budget. Let him ask Congress for more as he needs it.
Stephen Miller's Office of Remigration deliberately announces right in its name that white nationalism is the basis for US immigration policy. Dems should defund it.

The great Posting Through It pod invited me on to talk about my reporting on Miller. We went deep:

One of the surprising things about Digger is that there’s key shots in the trailer that don’t appear in the film, & the pacing & tone are very different. It’s closer in feel to Robert Altman’s filmed plays & later work than the screwball comedy sensibility of the trailer.

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job.

Think about that in context of
AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP.

Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down.

"AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago.

We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

I saw Digger tonight, & enjoed it. It is a kind of modern-day Dr. Strangelove, starring the last actor to star in a a kubrick film. Of course you can’t just do a climate take on it, because that’s letting us off easy. The stage replaces the war room of Strangelove…

Something big may be happening: Trump's world-historical misrule may be creating the conditions for the emergence of a coalition similar to the one that ousted Viktor Orban earlier this year: Anti-corruption, anti-authoritarian, pro-democracy.

I made this case here:
