Knitter, hiker, gardener, etymology enjoyer. She/her.
Getting freaked out about diesel prices. Good motivation to make nursing work - saves formula for babies that need it while saving me money. I still need a bit of extra food but I have way more acceptable options than an infant does.

Portland is closing schools, the other Vancouver school district is closing schools. I'm sure it's only a matter of time for this side of town. Hopefully the language immersion program still exists in 5 years.

Finishing early is quite impressive. Also excellent timing for me personally, we have to get my SIL at the airport later this week.

OK it's not the most important thing about either of them, but my god is Nigella next to Paul Hollywood an illustration of how good really expensive plastic surgery can be.

The apple tree festival was just wall to wall families with little kids. I am not sure if it's more so than past years or if I just didn't notice. Obviously mine isn't really at the interact and make friends stage, but I look forward to future years.

Alright, my mother in law is visiting from this weekend to next. And my SIL next weekend. Let's manifest everyone getting along and not being weird about the precautions we are taking to keep my very young little guy from getting sick.

Because their society seems to have been notably non-hierarchical and because they seem not to have produced anything of literary merit, archaeologists now believe the Harappans may have been hobbits.

Rewatching DS9 really puts a magnifying lens on why the newer Trek shows just don’t grab me that much. Strange New Worlds would be way better if it had a million episodes per season and you could get entire episodes devoted to Carol Kane having a spa day.

While nap trapped, I for some reason looked at reviews of my local library, many of which are completely bonkers. A guy who got trespassed and is calling security tyrants still have 3 stars. Someone gave 1 star because the library wasn't open when they wanted to visit.

Forced to admit that if I were rich I would buy just boatloads of the fancy wooden toys. I find them very lovely looking

How do other parents not fill up their phone memory to unusability with photos. I'm seeing a difference in just weeks. 😭

I may be sleep deprived, but having a baby do the little newborn scrunch like a frog on my chest is just a peak life experience.

I feel so guilty for handing off living in a place where late summer and early fall just inevitably mean smoke and fires. But to kids it'll just be the normal cycle of the year, like heavier rains in November

The aqi is unpleasant but not apocalyptic. I'm still baffled that my neighbor is choosing to mow his lawn right now. He is 75 with several health problems and I'm a little worried that this is his priority.

My ancestors jobs 100 years ago would be:
Construction worker/ logger/farm worker
Farm worker/housewife
Sewing factory worker
Dairy farmer

My grandparents generation had some more options but well less than a century ago.
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions”
