The unpublished work — believed to be the oldest known English book on cheese — contains some “repulsive” entries, experts said.

IN ADDITION TO THE FACT that the book was heavily edited by one of the mothers of libertarianism! Rose wilder Lane was literally Ayn Rand’s bestie!

Stop falling for libertarian propaganda.
A lot of folks have grand Little House on the Prairie dreams, and all I can tell you is their reading comprehension is garbage.

Those folks were CONSTANTLY on the verge of death! And that's the stuff Wilder and her publishers were willing to put in a bunch of kids' books!

Reminds me of being the only one in the History Majors' Little House book club who hadn't read the series as a child, and while everyone was having a nice, nostalgic time reading them again, I was HORRIFIED.

Now is a great time to be a person with a background in food history, because do you know how many eggless ration cake recipes I have?? No birthday is going uncelebrated due to egg prices in THIS household.

Usually I have to discuss vaccinations with my doctor to make sure my immune system will actually immunize, but I'm thinking this weekend I might just rock up to the pharmacy and ask for one of everything before vaccines are abolished.

Over the years I've had more than one person decide I wasn't saying enough about a particular topic and hold that against me, which is their privilege but also not something that's going change my mind. Some things I deal with online, some offline, and some things I leave entirely alone. I choose.
The "Your silence is telling" attitude is so toxic.

In This Midwestern Diner, Americans Are Hurting and Blaming Biden
Can’t wait for the NYT pieces on befuddled Midwestern factory workers and farmers fretting over the price of groceries, cars and gas and worrying about their credit card bills and mortgages when the Fed either halts rate cuts or even raises them again. How could they have known? No one warned them!

People who use clicky-clacky sticks to turn yarn into stuff are magicians and you cannot convince me otherwise.

See this chain of knots?

Brilliant recontextualizing often makes visible what we can't otherwise see. Especially in this media environment.

I miss a lot about living in Ann Arbor, so much about Ann Arbor, but I will never not be glad to be able to decide when my personal post-game celebration is over, turn off the music, and have a peaceful night's sleep.

Watching a documentary on queer comics, crocheting hats and scarves for queer youth and just feeling so, so grateful for all who came before me, all who helped and help me be who I am and all who will continue on this journey. ♥️♥️♥️
