Let me defend a bad decision here. The time to start working on a real plan to remove the BQE was 10yrs ago. In that time, the DOT has only put out one plan: build a temp highway to rebuild the main span. That's it. So now, 10 years later, the structure is in critical shape and there are no alts.
So much praise for just keeping the status quo instead of a more ideal highway burial/removal solution, just so strange

A 125 St subway should be a slam dunk. But at $7.7B for 1.25 miles, and with stations deep underground, current plans would not only build the most expensive subway in the the world, but would cost riders valuable minutes every single trip.
