The provost’s office also eliminated dozens of courses on race from counting toward the core curriculum.

A lot of people are not well right now: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is an excellent time to de-escalate conflicts and to lean into patience. This is true in our personal lives and also (maybe especially) online when it's overwhelmingly strangers crashing into each other.

People read the "AI WILL KILL US" narrative as involving a brave whistleblower revealing that AI researchers believe AI will kill us all — suggesting that they know something we don't, having worked on the technology. AI CEOs had to respond. As did politicians from Trump to Sanders.

That's false.

I'm sure this take has been took already but it's worth saying: the obscene, cynical performance of "It's about being against plagiarism" re Arday is absurd when the entire academic superstructure is being reorganised around mandating plagiarism using advanced plagiarism automation software

My husband Drew wrote this at breakneck speed while moving cross-country and caring for an 8 month old, bc he felt it was necessary, ethically and politically, to correct the record. If you read Tyler Austin Harper's piece, I hope you'll read this.
Andrew Baker was also a “token black professor” at Bates College. But his perspective on the events Tyler Austin Harper recounts in his Atlantic cover story is very different. Read Baker’s side of the story online today.

Tw: suicide.

I can promise you that you live and work with people who might have suicidal ideation. you might not/will never know it, they might not show it to you; because why would they? But they too deserve to be a part of our world, even as they/we have our inner struggles.

The league has to get rid of this Dundon guy. He bought the Blazers to hold the city of Portland hostage for arena money and now he's telling all of his underlings to shittalk the city so he can move to Kansas City or something. Cut this shit out or the league will be held hostage by similar ghouls.
if this is going to be the line then fuck these guys
