It is funny (in the joker way, as per usual) how so many people's lives were completely shattered over copyright trolling from companies who treated downloading a song as a capital offense but the moment they could make money on it themselves it instantly stopped being relevant
They hounded Aaron Swartz to death for downloading papers from jstor but society is now supposed to just accept mass theft because this thing can write that TPS report *for* you.

I feel like it's been totally memory holed the way these ghouls were going after college students in 8 figure lawsuits over downloading and "distributing" and album but now that they're all stealing shit for AI it's totally fine, the march of progress, can't be helped, etc

Me: these Democrats are turning on trans people

Liberal: but what if I LIKE that about them
Turning a big dial that says "Wrecking" on it and constantly looking back at the audience for approval. like a contestant on the Price is Right.
"Democrats aren't abandoning trans people! Maybe just one or two..." Here's every Democrat who's either voted to strip human rights away from trans people and/or has campaigned on anti-trans propaganda in the last year.

I’m realistic enough to know that we’re not going to fix the campus rape problem overnight, because patriarchy is multifaceted and cockroach-like in its survival abilities, but something I think we could get in place fast is a program for letting victims transfer without penalties.

Lafayette Square isn't "a historic protest site." It's a fucking park. And it's packed on nice days. Calling it a protest site is White House framing.

They're closing a popular public park to create a presidential palace Saddam Hussein would love.
Inside Trump's Plan to Fence Off a Historic Protest Site (Gift Article)
The president’s proposal to enclose a park in Washington could alter how the space has been used for generations.

back in the pre-marriage equality era I once heard a close friend from church earnestly say to someone “I just can’t understand why gay people want to DESTROY my marriage by redefining the meaning of it”

I’ll remember the way she said the word “destroy” until the day I die, because she meant it

This is completely unconstitutional. Congress never authorized this money. We are sliding further and further into autocracy
Just got a $500 check from the US Treasury with a campaign letter from Donald Trump. The country is extremely fucked up.

The fine line between not being snide to people who have finally decided they know better, and welcoming them with open arms and places of prominence. I'm glad you got out, there's work to be done, and this whole song and dance is more common than it's made out to be.

This applies not just to conservative women but to POC who vote Republican too.

Especially WOC.
I love a good "mea culpa" as much as the next hairy bra-burning man-hating [insert euphemism for "dyke" here].

But we really need to stop treating the conservative woman as some kind of misbegotten curio and come to terms with the banality of conservatives who happen to be marginalized.
You Will Not Be The Exception
On finding the collective fascination with conservative women incredibly, maddeningly boring.

talking with "good faith" conservatives about policy is incredibly frustrating because you eventually figure out that the basis for their beliefs is a combination of easily disprovable factual assertions that act as window dressing for unshakable reactionary gut feelings

I do not much give a fuck who said what to whom in nineteen dickety-two, and it IMO has absolutely no relevance to questions like “should countries we have sentimental attachments to get a special Get Out Of Crimes Against Humanity Free Card”. No: censure, sanctions, arrest, jail.

“International censure, sanctions and prison for war crimes” is not at all controversial for e.g. Russian or Syrian leaders, nor was it for Slobodan Milosevic or Saddam Hussein, and these leaders have committed war crimes every bit as egregious as any of these infamous criminal scumbags.

I'm addition, it's not just to sell democrats to queers, it's to sell "democrats love queers" to cishets. it's straight up pinkwashing. rainbow flag ai-powered genocide.

trans people say fuck no and we get tossed out on our asses for it. and we still say fuck no.
every "pride" Democrat org: "For party leadership, the caucus is simply a recruitment and sales team. The job, in their eyes, is not to represent the LGBTQ+ community to the party, but to sell Democratic candidates to the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of the harm those candidates may cause."
Today, I resigned as Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus.
The state party expects us to be a sales team, censoring our voices when we beg candidates not to trade on trans lives. I am still a Democrat, but I will not value party approval over true, defiant advocacy.

the Ohio Democratic party is purging its ranks by forcing trans people to either resign or go along with politicians who threaten their existence and calling a pride group an "unwelcoming distraction." If we're just a distraction, then win without our votes and get rid of the fake "pride" orgs 👍🏾

Very pleased to say I have now gotten the approval. Overwhelming medical consensus on this. However, every other person covered by UC with my condition still has to slog through unnecessary delay and stress to because of this outdated coverage criteria. How many will have permanently worse outcomes?
Tell me why my wife teaches every pre-med student that goes through UCSD and nevertheless, her employer provides us with a pharmacy benefits plan that consistently attempts to take away my medication against all of the scientific and clinical consensus

did you know that the characteristics that deem a victim "not credible" also overlap with the characteristics of the people most likely to be abused? not credible ≠ not victimized
