Checked out Line 5 fest today! At the Metrolinx booth for the ECWE I asked them what was next now that tunneling is complete— they were like “oh you know ball” and gave me a tunneling complete tshirt 🤣🤣🤣

Critical mass ride earlier today. Olivia Chow was there. Ended at Queens Park, which looked pretty nice at night.

This new slow zone was so painful this morning, causing not just this slowdown but train traffic all the way up to Eglinton. I’m sure it’s going to cause unsafe levels of crowding on Tues/Wed/Thurs during AM rush hour. Doubt the TTC is going to proactively try to redirect traffic tho :///

We did a wool dying workshop at black creek pioneer village, run by the Toronto Art Club. We used alum mordant, dyes from avocados, onion skins, cabbage, and turmeric, plus iron and copper solutions as modifiers. Was really surprised at how bright of a green colour I got from cabbage + turmeric!

The TTC has provided a table on "Reduced Speed Zones" on their website for the past few years. It just has a static map and is hard to interpret the real impact on riders. I have created a tool that pulls this data daily and will provide real info on how this delays riders.

Driving a car is incredibly dangerous, it should be one of the most regulated experiences on earth, and it is very upsetting to watch people who correctly don’t trust the cops turn against automated enforcement because the alternative is relying on a cop’s judgement to enforce the laws.

Regulators should be doing everything they can to unlock the feasibility of new four- to six-storey housing with elevators and modern safety systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, etc.) to increase the overall quality and safety of our housing stock.

Why is the line shut down between 9 stations due to a security incident at SB College? Makes no sense. Announcements are inaudible and unhelpful. My train is literally in this zone right now (NB Bloor) and is still in service. 🤷

I watched In The Mood For Love and I feel a bit despondent at how much I have completely lost the ability to understand Shanghainese, which I could do when I was younger because half my family comes from a city that speaks a very similar dialect.

toronto does libraries right.

our current mayor has managed to open every single library branch on all 7 days of the week. i don't believe any other major city has achieved the same in north america, not even nyc.

we have the best library system in the world 🤭

We went to Biidaasige Park to check out the new extension today. We did the city of Toronto guided walking tour and the Lassonde Art Trail tour. The new waterfront promenade is so nice. Lots of people paddling side by side with ducks and geese.

Watched the Odyssey. I liked Robert Pattinson as Antinous and Agamemnon’s menacing aura. Also really liked the Circe island part. Experientially similar to Dunkirk.

this is good public space paired with new transit in an outer part of the city that generally has neither. happy to see it far outside downtown.
