This is how private interests manufacture consent for policies that are NOT in our interest

Private companies have extracted £90 billion in dividends since privatisation - and loaded them up with £72 billion in debt

It is time for Andy Burnham to bring our water into public ownership!

What’s taken over is this thirst for ‘breezy’. God forbid there’s anything with depth for five minutes. Everything seems to have this awful grin on its face (even the news, *especially* the news), but it can’t even do wit, it’s this kind of empty bantz.
You’d have to be in thrall to the narrowest, most blinkered model of economics to believe that axeing Free Thinking and Thinking Allowed made sense. The amount of goodwill programmes like this earn from the BBC’s core supporters is way out of proportion to the pennies they cost to make.

Best known for his atmospheric paintings of urban and coastal moonlit landscapes, this image by Leeds born John Atkinson Grimshaw is rather different. ‘Autumn Regrets’ was painted in 1882. The painting is in the collection of Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead.

genAI discourse drives me nuts

“putting aside that the tech needs to steal from every artist with an explicit goal of competing with and devaluing them, I think using it speeds up my programming!”

back up, chucklefuck, what was that first bit again?

Hey, you all like knowing the time, right? Well, why not know the time as though you’re waiting for a train in High Wycombe in 1991? https://aj-computing.co.uk/network-southeast-clock/

But ultimately it's just a very, very sweet 80 mins where you fall in love with a plastic head on a massive cardboard box and a man who learns that being different doesn't mean you have to protect yourself in isolation. It's currently on Channel 4 www.channel4.com/programmes/b... so give it a go.

I might be a little less distrustful of AI if the dudes promoting it, supporting it, insisting on it, and advocating for it weren’t the worst fucking people on the planet.
