Very much looking forward to meeting the students today, and hearing management explain that a) there isn’t enough work to keep me on full time and b) no, they haven’t got staff to teach modules I designed and taught, starting next week.

Does that sound bitter? It should do.
In the movie version of this, after Piddington runs out of food water and money as a result of leaving the UK, the residents apply for asylum and end up housed in a military base, with HILARIOUS consequences.

The rain didn’t stop us.

Today we stood proud against the University of Brighton’s outrageous threat to derecognise UCU.

We will not let our members’ rights be trampled on.

Like and share to stand with our members and send management a message: BACK DOWN.
***URGENT PLEASE SHARE*** University of Brighton management have announced today that they ‘give notice of termination of all collective agreements’. This is a fundamental erasure of workers' rights. Management have announced the termination of all contractual documents, which includes:
UCU members at Brighton University face the threat of derecognition. We have called an emergency rally tomorrow at 1:15pm.

It would be amazing to see as many #TUC26 delegates as possible in attendance.

tfw you told management exactly what you need to call off a strike weeks ago.
Well, it’s Sacking Day (to the tune of Tannenbaum), when we learn via Teams calls which one of the 4 of us left is to go.

That will leave 3 (from 12) to teach English Language, Literature and Creative Writing and supervise 25 PhD students. I’m sure management have thought this through carefully.
