This is a very good communications strategy.

“Your tax dollars at work” once seemed cliched. But it’s important to highlight this sort of stuff.

(Reuters) - The order to limit a satellite system used by Ukraine for battlefield communications and drone operations came from inside the White House, according to two US officials and a Western official briefed on the matter.

Said a day after a white supremacist sought to kill people at a Hindu temple. Not a word about the anti-Indian rhetoric within his own party that has put South Asians and his own family members in danger. Instead continues to play footsie with people who see non-white citizens as guests, at best.

I don't think most Americans understand yet what a global laggard the USA is turning into here. Media instead told us that electric vehicles were a fad that didn't work.
Nepal passed 5% battery electric vehicle share in August 2021 and is at 75%. The U.S. passed 5% in October 2022 and is at 6%.

In fact, history is unique in being almost a "book only" discipline - at least in a lot of research-active departments. Perhaps more should consider having an "article track" of allowing tenure with 6 or so articles in respected peer review journals.

This happens in humanities too. Lots of English or Fine Arts departments will have a track for produce work (for example, you write poems) and those who study it (you write a book analyzing poetry).

Many departments like that will sometimes have two different "tracks" for tenure: an "article track" for some researchers and a "book track" for others depending on the nature of their data.

As long as your promotion committees understand that different disciplines mark "productivity" in different ways, it's OK. The chair of Natural Sciences understands that doing historical archival work is hard, so I recognize that cultivating a fungi lab for 5 years is tough work too.

The quickest answer is that those fields (esp. nat sci and the more stats-driven social sci) tend to craft their arguments on a data set or study that then can be used for multiple singular findings. Which honestly, there's really nothing wrong with.
New Marist poll of Texas finds 61% say undocumented immigrants should stay in US if meet certain requirements. Only 35% say they should leave.

A majority of noncollege white men (Trump base) says stay.

Supports my case (see piece/thread below) that Trump opened way for new pro-immigrant consensus
