Just watched a cavalier king charles try hard to make friends with a corgi and the corgi noped out and it was like watching the UK.
I saw that one of my students just made a (doctored) L&S-style entry (formatted as if found on @logeiongklat.bsky.social ) for an invented Latin word. What a delight. Behold: flamamammama!

That's Awesome. Way to me that shop for recognising its long time customers!

10 years ago I took a road trip through Montana that consisted of driving all day, going to a Dairy Queen, sleeping at a motel and then leaving the state on the other side and it's still one of the greatest trips of my life because till then I didn't even know how much sky there was in the world

My department runs on women with no children.

For serious real

It was brought up in my presence the other day that our workplace is majority female and to watch all of the women in the room one by one point out the structural reasons why that's likely to be the case in museums was a thing of beauty.

“Women are the majority of public historians”
*shivers*
swear to god some She-ra, wakes-all-the-potential-slayers stuff just happened here
Proposals for a special issue of The Public Historian are due Nov. 1, 2026. Women are the majority of public historians. What now? This special issue, the first in the journal’s run, will center on women’s public history and women in public history. Find the full details: ncph.org/news/the-pub....

Experimenting with new light box
If you're wondering why Flock leaves cameras up after a contract end, part of their business model and marketing strategy is being able to advertise that their customers can access data from cameras all over the country. You may have canceled your contract, but the cameras still fuel the system.

Me, walking into @illinoisrbml.bsky.social to inspect the spread @caitcoker.bsky.social has out for my class’ visit

Me: Wow a 1st American edition of *Moby Dick* in which someone pasted newspaper articles about whaling & reviews of the book

Me: do we know who pasted these?

CC: um, Herman

Me: 🤯

right? That one's going to be so important, too

It’s books like that, that makes me wish I could do nothing but read for the rest of my life.
