Big paper on AI coding agents using Github data.

The early auto-complete tools (like Copilot) led to 2.2x as much code, local agents like original Claude Code led to 7.4x, & current remote coding agents 17.3x(!)

But human bottlenecks in the coding process means actual releases "only" went up 30%.

BREAKING: Signal, the #1 privacy protecting messaging app, is saying they will pull out of 🇨🇦 ENTIRELY if they're scoped into #BillC22 without large changes.

This should be our final alarm bell:.We can have privacy or we can have C22, not both! #cdnpoli

The second edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, by myself and @chris.blue, is finished and sent off to the printers! Ebooks should be available in the next week, and print books in 3–4 weeks. Sigh of relief. 😅

(BTW, this is a good opportunity to support your favourite local bookshop!)

1/ We found that deep sequence models memorize atomic facts "geometrically" -- not as an associative lookup table as often imagined.

This opens up practical questions on reasoning/memory/discovery, and also poses a theoretical "memorization puzzle."

The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

oh this is neat — Qwen’s newest image model decomposes images into layers (how photoshop works), and you edit just one layer and nothing else

A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

Nano Banana Pro, released this morning, is clearly the best image generation model. Superb instruction following, plus it can generate full infographics (with correct spelling and properly rendered text!) from a short prompt based on running extra searches simonwillison.net/2025/Nov/20/...
Nano Banana Pro aka gemini-3-pro-image-preview is the best available image generation model
Hot on the heels of Tuesday’s Gemini 3 Pro release, today it’s Nano Banana Pro, also known as Gemini 3 Pro Image. I’ve had a few days of preview access …

No. Your Twitter traffic did NOT double overnight.

What happened?
Twitter's been stagnating/declining since 2023
The growth team growth hacked (making links auto-open in webview)
They hope marketers will fall for it & pay more attention again.
But, it's nothing more than smoke & mirrors.

Yeah yeah, "wisdom of the markets" and all that, but this is a misallocation of capital that could be invested far more productively into our economy.

Nvidia knows it too, hence all the circular deals where they 'invest' into something which then uses the money to buy stuff from Nvidia.

This morning my ChatGPT quota was inexplicably exhausted.

It took a while but I pieced it together. Voice mode somehow got activated when I went to bed.

The bot then engaged in a 10 hour conversation with my snoring dog, answering questions the pup wasn’t asking and praising him for his insight.
