Feeling overwhelmed by the scope of your personal projects? Remeber that 1 hour a day for 365 days, is as many hours as working fullt time 40 hours a week for 9 weeks.
Some Action > No Action.

Days 335-384

Friday May 22- Friday July 10

My 1 year anniversary slipped by. When I started I mentioned feeling overwhelmed. Work/Life has me in a place where finding the extra hour is difficult, but not always impossible. I hope to find balance again soon.

Days 333-334

Wednesday & Thursday

I’ve mentioned before spending my creative hour as drawing time with the little one. Yesterday I had evidence that it’s paying off. She drew this on her own, no prompting, and declared it was a pig. She’s not 2.5 years old yet.

Tuesday

Excel Project is coming along nicely. Nearly complete with the Tax Projection section. Nice to see the expected impact of 401k election changes.

Days 308-331

Saturday to Monday, many weeks later?

Not gonna pretend this was a planned break. Having a cold is an excuse (it last 3 weeks, but wasn’t that bad.) Big work changes - also an excuse.

I did get a lot of work done on my personal Excel project - just didn’t post.

Days 304-307

Tuesday - Friday

Back from the work event and mostly recovered. Had grand plans for finding time to write, but instead was just generally short on sleep the whole time. Friday has been the recovery day.

Days 303

Monday

Travel day for work today, so just checking in to stay in the habit.
It’s gonna be a busy week, but I met some nice people on the plane flying out to see their 3 year old niece for the first time! One of them was flying for the first time as well - joy!!

Days 299-302

Thursday-Sunday

More rereading pages and fixing typos - and those pesky apostrophes that Scriviner stripped out on import. (I blame Word smart-apostrophes.)

More migration from Quicken to MoneyDance. So far I feel it was a good choice.

Days 298

Wednesday

Spent doodle time with the Little One today. I trade off taking request or watching her draw. She’s starting to show more controlled line work.

Days 297

Tuesday

Outline / thumbnails for a Power Point presentation that I build tomorrow. Not familiar with the tools available in PP - so this will be an interesting learning experience. Looks like it will be roughly 30 slides, depending on how transitions work.

Days 296

Monday

Rereading pages for editing. Fixing silly errors caused when transferred into Scriviner. For some reason, all of the apostrophes were stripped out: dont & youre & any possessive.

Days 277-295

Disappeared for almost 3 weeks. There has been more Excel work, more doodle time with the little one, and a tiny bit of writing.

But mostly I allowed myself to get caught up in distractions, doomscrolling, world events and just life in general. Time to reset.

Work has been a bit stressful, so today’s hour was doodling with the little one.

Monday

Transferred some writing from a notebook into my Scriviner file. Retyping handwritten words allows then to sink in.

More creative Excel work before actual work this morning. The suite is coming along bit by bit, or maybe that’s byte by byte.

Wednesday

Creative Excel work tonight, programming my own custom Functions to keep the individual cells easy to read. Also a Select Case is so much cleaner than multiple nested If statements.

Tuesday

Good evening of journaling, writing and reworking a synopsis. Found an alternative intro that better explains the character’s origin and emotional motivations. Looking forward to refining the narrative.

Days 258-268

Friday to Monday (+a week).

Hard to recap 10 days. Been building a little financial suite in Excel to do what Quicken can’t. Back to research, reading and planning on where my story is going. Lots of sketch time with the Little One.

Monday.

Forgot to post last night. Mondays are Mondays, as always. Extra time at work, and then finishing up other tasks that should clear up the rest of the week. Didn’t even get a walk outside. Falling asleep last night thinking over narrative.

Easing back in, spent a morning walk rethinking narrative changes that I need to address.
Later in the day a more technical bit of planning for an Excel project (long range financial planner).
