Does bluesky feel empty to you? I'm here to be part of digital community. I can offer creativity, travel, joy in the little things, my art, empathy, curiosity. I might need a networking refresher.

Today's joy is that my ice cream flavor matched my shirt.

#Readyformatriarchy #blueskycommunity
Beaming selfie of middle aged white lady wearing large wire rimmed glasses and her hair pulled back. She's holding an ice cream cone with a scoop of ice cream that matches her fuschia shirt. Yellow Ice cream storefront in the background with umbrella and people sitting outside in mint chairs. Cobblestoned street.

A month long visit to the US is over. We just arrived in Iceland for a week. I have my sketchbook, art supplies and a bunch of coffee shops to visit. But first, a nap. #Iceland #travelartist
Reykjavik Cathedral, concrete point shape against a bright blue sky. Cathedral interior, shades of white, stark and empty vaulted ceilings, gray pews, mostly empty. Looking across the street at a colorful mural on a symmetrical building. The byilding is 2 stories with a row of 4 windows on the 1st and 2nd floor. The mural moves from warm colors on the bottom floor, to cool colors on top. Abstract bursts of color and circles. The byilding is set on a hill.

Working on the last details of a kitchen commission. I love painting kitchens and food prep. I want to capture every detail. I'm looking for art friends, anyone that loves creativity, and color. ☺️

Close up of a watercolor illustration, a left hand holding a paint brush hovers over the bottom right detail of the watercolor. Detailed illustration of a kitchen table with stacks of sieves? Carrots, chopped onions, garlic, ginger, boxes of ingredients, jars, etc. On the wall behind the counter hangs drying onions, garlic chillies, and seaweed

Day 6 in London. I chose to sit and paint out in the rare sunlight instead of tour the war museum. #travelartist #coffeeshop #travelsketching #watercolorartist #sketchbook #watercolors
Open sketchbook. Ink and watercolor sketch on the right side of the page. Big yellow splotchy tree is 1/4 of the sketch. The rest is a small coffee kiosk called "The songbird cafe". Lots of details of chips, drinks, and fridges in the shadows.

Reflecting on decay. I call last week "rot week" as I checked out and did the bare minimum.

Today on substack, I saw a post about the pieces of us that have to die off in order for the new life to come through.

Here is a detail of an art journal page that gave me this same epiphany.

#artislife
Abstract mixed media, dark blue lines reaching up a bit water-like to the upper right corner where dark blues, purple, golden yellow swatches of color intermission, bleed into each other and leave feathery edges. 3 Orange crayon lines are scratched vertical down the left side. The marks replicate organic a bit. There are hints of possible figures or maybe dried leaves. It's up to the imagination.

Eyes misted with gratitude as I settled into a delightful journal session. I listen to a busy intersection.

Street lights light up a white cup and saucer of coffee at center of the photo. In the lower left corner is a peak of an open page with handwriting, another closed book beneath that. The background is a night sky, a tree backlit by street lights, faint shapes of office buildings in the darkness with a few lit windows. In the middleground is wicker café chairs clustered around tables and a closed navy blue umbrella. The overall lighting is amber from artificial light. Left of the cup is the edges of a pink café.

A lovely walk on a crisp fall day in Bavaria.
POV view of Rough sketch of 2 figures, drawn in pen in small sketchbook. Figures are seen from the back, arms linked, heads bent toward each other. Behind the sketchbook is the edge of a white patio table set on a sidewalk. On the table, at the upper left corner of the photo is a pink pot full of bright yellow flowers. Fading into the background is the stretching sidewalk and a figure all in black walking away. Most of the photo is gray pavement and white metal patio furniture, white buildings, white pages of the sketchbook. The yellow flowers in the pink pot are a joyous pop of color. On a quiet street, construction, a do-not-enter sign and part of a blue and white sign, might be enough clues that this is a European street. The foreground is a bright purple retro bicycle with a purple crate mounted on front as a basket. In the basket is a mound of small pink flowers brimming over the top. A textured close up view of the pebbled ground. The pebbles are small and light gray almost white, almost uniforn and jagged. In the center of the photo is a small leaf with scalloped edges. It's facedown, the stem horizontal. It's creamy brown color is nearly the same value as the pebbles. On the leaf is many water drops. Almost unnoticeable is dried pine needles among the pebbles. bright yellow green leaves fill most of this nature photo of a forest in the fall. The closest tree trunk is straight and narrow with an ivy vine sprawling up it. A path cuts into the photo from the left and slow curves to the right before being blocked in the background with trees. Fallen brown leaves border along the dirt path.

I used my 2hr wait in the Neurology clinic to create a Bsky account. I've been debating it for over a yr, starting over on yet another platform - I have art to do!

I'm another yr with no new lesions, blood taken, now journaling during a late lunch.

How do you like it here?

I'm giving myself a week to try out Bluesky. I've already been customizing my feed 🥳. Please help me hear from other artists, activists, storytellers, community builders, dreamers, and change makers.
