After I lived in Germany for five years (and a childhood in Vermont), I moved to DC as one of these people -- A/C who needs it! I was convinced A/C was the culprit of my summer colds. I spent one summer in DC and dispensed of that line of thinking stat.
there’s a contingent of people from historically cooler climates who really do seem to think that they’re inherently better people for not using AC unlike those decadent tropical dwellers

I’m not even a basketball watcher really and this speech brought me to tears.

This is because the DC Board of Elections is waiting to release results until everyone has voted, and there were lines of late-arriving voters at some election sites when polls closed. Josh could have easily learned about this (entirely reasonable) policy because the board publicly announced it.
