I find it weird how often body modification and piercings are used as short hand for villainary when in real life people like this are so often the kindest, most community-mind individuals. (I know he didn't look like this in the comic, which makes it even weirder).

nothing happened 'to' him. he took that fairly united party and told whole sections of it to piss off. banging the anti-immigrant drum won zero votes and alienated many. he was all blunders. centrist is a blunder
Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.

No obvious blunders besides being on the wrong side of Epstein, putting grandmothers in UK Guantanamo, supporting genocide, installing draconian internet measures, failing the trans community, failing the Muslim community, but generally it comes down to having the spine of an octopus.
Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.

LGBTQ+ voters have abandoned Labour in droves (see work by @turnbulldugarte.com). Like in other areas, Labour has sacrificed minority rights to appeal to authoritarian voters. They are now facing the consequences. People who do not identify as straight make up 8-10% of the electorate.
