Three days after the August primary, election workers in one Washington county went to check for late mail-in ballots.

They expected no more than a few dozen. Instead, there were more than 500 — each a vote that wouldn’t count.

Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, a consultant class is raiding the Democratic Party and getting “generationally wealthy” along the way

How the Consulting Class Is Eating the Democratic Party
Fundraising costs gobble up most of the funds raised. Billions are spent on TV ads that have virtually no impact. Candidates may win or lose—but the consulting class always wins.

Right so the war against social science. Yes it’s ideological. It’s also a termination letter from the state saying it no longer needs legitimation. that’s the public crisis — ask yourself why it doesn’t need legitimacy.

Gotta love the Post's headline. "Legal experts aren't sure" that someone with no law license who can't be admitted to the bar in China is a lawyer.
New: White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia calls herself a lawyer. There’s no evidence she was admitted to practice law in the United States, and legal experts say foreign citizens cannot take the bar in China.

My deep dive:

Remember: ICE lied so often about people posing threats to them, to justify their violence in Chicago, that a Chicago federal judge wrote it was "difficult, if not impossible, to believe almost anything" ICE said.

Do you know what it takes to get a Fed district judge to WRITE THAT in a ruling?
This is exactly what ICE said:

"Parra-Hernandez ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck."

Now watch the video.

They're no other word for it: They're lying.
Watch an ICE agent run down and then run over a man.

The man was was then writhing on the ground, saying "You broke my leg! You broke my leg!"

Agents didn't help him.

And btw, the man wasn't the target of their operation.

A good summation of David Brooks and "civility" politics generally: no one on the right-wing can ever be described honestly, while everyone who isn't on the right-wing is always portrayed as a radical breaking cherished norms.
"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

Roger Marshall charged his patients 18% annual interest on their unpaid bills. His bakery bill for $678.75 was due six years ago.

At 18% interest compounded annually, the total he'd owe would be at least $1,800.

Marshall just paid the bakery $1,300—far less than what his patients would owe.
