genuinely, most people simply don't care that much. not even those calling for medieval carceral spectacles.

If my abuser had gone on to become an influencer, someone had pieced together what she'd done to me, and then I got to watch as MY story was downplayed en masse and used by many other strangers for performative carceral fantasies, I'd want to die.

and even if Geller had been gone to prison and survived a dozen shankings at the hands of a neo-nazi prison gang, most of y'all STILL have no place for him, forever. Geller losing his credibility and platform, it's the least we can do, and I know that still won't be enough for a lot of people.

I don't know about redemption. I have nothing to forgive Geller for. I'm not much interested in his content, probably won't be for quite a while. And legions of people on here quite obviously don't have a place in their world for criminals who haven't suffered enough in their view.

most posts I see are responding to strawpeople of Geller's apologists, frankly, and because we didn't have a saga of Geller lying or trying to overtly manipulate public favor, the "he should have just owned up to it" criticism, which is utterly predictable of online men, can't be spent.

and this is the internet. Bidoof's Law very much applies. further, the same fundamental consequences Geller is seeing (being dropped by nebula, etc) would likely still occur if his entire online career HAD been one sans his face or real name as part of it.

"consider the woodchipper" I don't much need the person who victimized me in a woodchipper. I hate that image. Half the folks here are responding to people minimizing geller's crime while, if only through omission, not having that much of a problem with those calling for public flogging or suicide.

his own peers have stated that, had they known about his sex crime, they never would have worked with him anyways. and like, you'd have to have a heart of stone to fault someone for that. you'd also have to be remarkbly stubborn to not see how someone already hiding something would take the plunge
October 5, 2026 at 6:37 PM
if you ARE a sex criminal, of course, you're likely to be concealing that to begin with for self-serving reasons if nothing else. Geller's crime didn't go to a criminal trial and if he had been upfront about his sex crime, made it part of his online persona, that could set off online sleuths

this keeps happening because aside from male feminists who can Take It, or have careers that have them kind of getting paid for nodding along to the yesallmen rhetoric in the long term, the men who are otherwise liberal and willing to publicly identify as feminist online get filtered out over time.
October 5, 2026 at 6:32 PM
genuinely, I've tried my hand at tone policing at times, even if I didn't admit to myself at the time. Staying quiet or Taking It requires a level of performance to do online stuff that's just not worth it. People don't HAVE to care about my problems or issues and I could hurt someone by talking.
October 5, 2026 at 6:30 PM
of course most people aren't much concerned with male victims of women anyways, specifically online, and I've been too much of a jackass about this stuff in the past to feel comfortable raising my hand, so yeah, as a victim who also is not a sex criminal, the simplest answer is to draw away.
October 5, 2026 at 6:27 PM
like there's a background radiation of hostility to Men(tm) that's both born out of too much pain for me to comfortably, I dunno, "push back" against, and it's too common to just filter out. but that yesallmen stuff lumps me, a victim of sexual assault, in with sex criminals. it's incredibly hurtful

maybe? I find nintendo consoles just don't have much capability compared to the platforms skyrim was most successful, where there's still machsimo around Processing Power.

Bethesda games are so buggy inherently that it could easily be infuriating to play skyrim on the switch in the long-term :(
