This is insane. Small minded, petty bigots must break the achievements of better humans.
The Trump administration is dismantling a $368 million deep-ocean observation system that was put in place a decade ago to monitor coastal environments, marine ecosystems and powerful currents that affect the global climate.
Trump Administration to Dismantle Ocean Monitoring System
The $368 million network of instruments collecting data in both the Atlantic and Pacific has been critical to climate and ocean research.

Federal agents have intimidated, threatened, and even arrested residents of Memphis who have documented their aggressive immigration enforcement activity in their communities.

The First Amendment protects our right to record. We'll see them in court.
Memphis is “under full-blown occupation” by ICE. Here’s why you may not know that.
Community members face retaliation for trying to spread the word out, a lawsuit alleges.

🌊 It’s a sad day for @cmarinescience.bsky.social A lot of world class scientists (and me) have likely lost their life work as our main building surprsingly caught on fire today.

We don’t know the scale of the loss, but it’s certainly very very bad.

There's a Tartan?!?
Here with AGU President Brandon Jones just after he told me about the official Ocean Sciences Meeting tartan. It’s apparently got the date of the Challenger expedition woven into it. 🌊🌊 Impressed! #OSM26

When I was in high school, I was lucky enough to see Dr. Jane Goodall speak. She spoke of her research, yes, but also of environmental resilience and, crucially, #hope.

Her message was simple: Nothing good happens without hope and nothing can happen without community.
