Dispatches from the cyberpunk present.

These are things that I’ve seen people hacking, building, and posting right now, in a world that feels increasingly cyberpunk with far fewer katanas than expected.

The absolute shellacking Republicans are taking makes the prior two years of capitulation by so many powerful people and organizations look even more pathetic

We've been writing this love letter to our state for over 12 years. Every door we've knocked, every call we made, every sleepless night, was for what we knew our state could be. Tonight, we might finally get to see it.

I'm sporting a mustache this "Movember" to raise awareness of men’s health issues, including prostate cancer.

But this isn’t just  (upper) lip service.

This year, our administration is investing $4M toward a brand-new prostate cancer center at Kings County hospital in Brooklyn.

I think this is useful for more people these days because frankly too many of us were recently spending our attention learning the latest tooling, because we spent so much time on implementation compared to design.

now we have to take a big step back & ask the real questions like: why?
I think vibecoders should start reading more computing papers from the 1970s or earlier. it'll really help your vibecoding skills. like did you know there was another important guy named claude from back in the day

This is something I don’t really have a good answer for yet but there’s constantly a dialectic going on in me between “I’m having fun and this feels worth sharing” and “I’m gonna hoist my own petard sharing this” and have traditionally been of the “being early and bad is fine because you tried”
This is a fully general problem. People keep antagonizing the public by pushing out undercooked things too early, before they work. And then the product category is kind of tainted by the overpromises and high profile failures. People do this because they are financially incentivized to do so.
You know when Linus wrote the first version of Linux his message to the mailing list was that it was a fun hobby thing, not a thing you should go out and use right now. And then people used it and discovered the flaws and made improvements together. Everyone wants things too fast now.

decided to put my GPUs where my mouth is

64 hours ago, I started decompiling Just Cause 2 using a bespoke harness, three xx90-class GPUs, two computers, and (now) 22 parallel sessions of Qwen 3.8 27B with 45K context each

I now have 6% of functions (note: <1% bytecode) decompiled w/ byte-matching
