US/UK hybrid, writer, reporter and podcaster. Creator of The Broad Experience on women and work (2012-23). Now covering aging. Love the outdoors.
I got to hear Gloria Steinem speak at the NYPL a decade ago and I'm so glad I did. She was funny and warm.
"Gloria Steinem was a pioneering woman journalist who paved the way for all those who came after her, as well as womankind in general," says JAWS President Tanya Gazdik. "Her spirit lives on in every single woman journalist who continues to fight the good fight."
"The most important monument to Gloria will not be a statue, an award or even a shelf of remarkable books. It will be the work we—working together—do next," writes Ms. Executive Editor Kathy Spillar.

I guess this was always going to happen. I still have no interest in watching podcasts - and I think audio does something completely different for our brains - but I guess I'm in a minority www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

Tons of people are getting older by themselves or in a couple, but no kids. At some point many of us will be solo agers. My latest @npr.org story looks at how the rise of solo agers can help society adjust to them/us - not the other way round: www.npr.org/2026/07/09/n...
'Solo agers' are a growing group. Changes that would help them could help everyone
Many older adults navigate aging on their own — without children or a spouse. An expert says this is "a reality to be supported" rather than a crisis to be solved.

One of the reasons #Mecicaid can be so confusing is it’s not always called by its name - states use names like ‘Health Plus’ so people on it don’t recognise upcoming cuts will affect them #HJ26 @healthjournalism.org

Every freelancer knows you have to build a brand but until today I'd never heard anyone advise that we need to re-visit what that brand is every 3 months. Makes sense in our fast-moving world but boy does it take a lot of energy to keep on top of all this. #freelancing @asjahq.bsky.social
