Lack of diagnosis of #MECFS meant that I wasn’t informed that exertion was dangerous. This year I pushed myself beyond my limits and ‘crashed’. Now every thing I do is planned: standing up #POTS, walking, working at my desk. My world is very small now but my memories of wild places keeps me going.

After a severe #MECFS crash six months ago I became bed bound and housebound for months. I’m only slowly managing to recover with the hope that life will go back to some semblance of ‘normal’. On Saturday, I walked up a mountain track in northern Victoria.

In the future, there will be people who look at how hard life has become and wish they could go back to do things differently. But we're lucky. We live now. We still _can_ do things differently. We are like time travellers in a position to save much of what would otherwise have been lost.

Brilliant oration in Beechworth by Deborah Cheetham Fraillon, proud Yorta Yorta & Yuin woman, renowned soprano & founder of #shortblackopera. In the aftermath of the brutal colonisation of this country & our refusal to elect a #VoicetoParliament, she asks us who we really are & who we want to be.

From the days before social media, Rodger Deakin savoured the simplicity of random ideas…

“Jottings, in their spontaneity and complete absence of any craft, are often so much truer to what I actually feel or think at a given moment.”

Recovery has made my world very small of late. To keep my mind from being consumed by my situation I am focussing on the beauty of the small things around me. #cureME #fibromyalgia #cancerschmancer #natureheals #MECFS

On this International Women’s Day, I cannot stop thinking about all the girls in Iran, in Sudan, in Gaza, and so may places — girls whose lives were snuffed out in conflicts they played no part in, before they could ever become women.

And I am thinking about their mothers.

Landscape ecological restoration. It can be done but we need to get a move on. This is Carrifran where the sheep were removed to allow this native woodland to take over.

Thinking about the beautiful lotus flowers that I saw in full bloom at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne a couple of years ago. It’s been one of those days. #biophilia #natureheals #fibromyalgia #MECFS #planttherapy

Seasonal harvest in challenging times. Although cancer treatment has well and truly ended now, #fibromyalgia still has its grip on me leaving me confined to bed. #natureheals #eatyourveg. Some days are tough but it’s essential for me to hold on to happiness.

Each year I take myself camping to recover from #fibromyalgia. This year, I’m also recovering from cancer. Being here reminds me to pay attention to daily moments; respond with compassion to my chatter of self recrimination and observe the beauty and diversity of life in this remarkable landscape.

It’s such a great season for roses in Central Victoria. This is a heritage rose from my front garden. Two years ago, I picked some flowers for a friend who had just finished chemotherapy. Little did I know that two years later it would mark the end of mine. #cancer #natureheals

Yesterday, I sat in the garden to take in spring. My post chemo / fibromyalgia fatigue was so intense that I couldn’t stand. So, I sat there for an hour, flowers in full bloom all around me watching honeybees up close, sipping nectar from one flower, gathering pollen from the next and felt lucky.
