On September 16th 1982 I estimated a total of 250,000 Swallows roosted at Barton on Humber with 70,000 still on 29th: tonight 44 years on there was not one! With Spurn Migfest lacking Mig it is obvious we are heading for the precipice like the proverbial lemmings but 99% of Britains don’t care:

We’re seeking to identify the individual pictured after the disturbance of a Sche 1 protected bird at an active nest.
Their presence caused the adult birds to leave the nest potentially putting vulnerable chicks at risk during the current extreme heat.

3 hours at Wykeham watchpoint produced a small handful of birds.
Tree growth is now limiting the view into the valley so it’s becoming a poor ‘watchpoint’…
