The real little mermaid IS a queer story, Hans Christian Andersen was a gay man. He wrote it as an outlet because he was in love with his straight friend and couldn’t tell him, and watched him marry another woman. She doesn’t end up with him. She dies and becomes an angel for her sacrifices in life.

A "healthy" 4.4% unemployment is still 7.7 million Americans that want to work and can't find work. We are all underpaid even if we do have a job. The profit motive sets our wages and prices, it should not be complicated to figure out why the vibes are off.
