Among many things the US improved after falling down by 14 early, their ability to contain the other French guards (Johannes, Astaire, Leyte) before eventually figuring out how to limit Williams was a huge factor in building this big second half lead.

Team USA somehow down by only two at the half. Great job staying in it, though how they solve the Gabby Williams problem in the second half remains to be seen.

Always kills me having to root against Gabby Williams, one of my favorite players ever along with Stewie. Winning players whose coaches would play them every single minute if they could.

Team USA women getting worked by France is sadly the least surprising thing, not sure even A’ja being here would help their lack of rhythm on offense. That said, Stewart, Gray and Young are still playing their asses off keeping the team in it.

I wish he had picked Denver or Minnesota, but I respect that this is where he wanted to give it one more go, as weird as it looks to the outside world. Hope at the minimum health allows LeBron one last good year, no matter how the 76ers end up performing.

Fair that in the final analysis, Belgium was always a better team than the US. But it’s also more than fair to assert that the political theater of the past few days gave an outsized motivational boost to an underperforming team, and distracted the home team to a hideous degree.

Also I don’t know if the Knicks really decided to zag while everybody else zigged in ridding themselves of two centers, or if they just really hated that second apron (def the latter). But losing Mitch to Boston is a big blow.

Sooooo….Scott Foster just flat out decided “we aren’t going to give the NBA’s meal ticket a flagrant no matter what” after a blatant landing space flagrant?

I’m relishing all the Knick highlights but I still can’t believe Fox went for that layup, one of the most boneheaded plays you can make with the lead and 11 seconds remaining.

Alvarado flipped the series, this after not being very good the previous series. Credit to Mike Brown for sticking with him over Bridges despite the ostensible disadvantage of two small guards having to defend the Spurs’ monsters.

OG flying tip after inbounding the ball and KAT step back three falling out of bounds two of the most unbelievable plays in that run, but the whole thing is still unbelievable to even imagine

This is why Mitch Robinson being a competent backup was so crucial coming into this series. As good as KAT can be, even he can’t keep Wemby from out-alien-Ing everyone else on the floor. Wemby really showing off his gifts on some of these tips near the rim.
