Yeah, Well, That's What I Think.

Here until I'm not. The Internet in general, and social media in particular, is now an emotional tar pit, owned and curated by a handful of soulless, obscenely wealthy ghouls. Music, art and trivia, when I'm not overwhelmed by existential grief.

Republican ethics: be born, go to school, work till you die. Don't ask questions. The rich people don't like it. It interrupts their playtime. Don't like it, go live on the street. But not where they can see you.
Have you ever gotten a burger at Wendy’s that looks like this? Ever?

If you’re on board with Hegseth livestreaming an execution, it says as much about you as it does about him.

Mitch McConnell wheeled into the Capitol, barely able to communicate, with no clear evidence that he was lucid, needing three tries to register the “aye” vote his handlers wanted, was a moment of depravity that nobody in the GOP should ever be able to live down. Especially Elaine Chao.

What the man just said is that if we lose every human life in an urban metropolis, it’s fine if he wins the business deal he’s pressing Iran to make. There is no spinning that as “it was just hyperbole”. It doesn’t matter to him who dies, as long as he wins the deal. That’s all any of us are to him.

Am I the only one who thinks that MLB selling ad space on everybody’s batting helmets through the playoffs is a monumentally stupid idea?

What you need to know is that none of it was going to rich people, so you’re not getting it. Work harder, peasants. It’s party season and that champagne’s not buying itself.

What to know about the $810 million in spending canceled by President Trump
President Trump announced plans to cancel $810 million in Congressionally approved spending, a move that some in his own party are calling illegal.

Hey, I have an idea for using AI productively: have it start giving prescription drugs names that aren’t random gibberish.

If I was placing bets on things, I’d lay down some cash on Trump tearing down the Kennedy Center in broad daylight before the year’s out, and immediately announcing its replacement with a gold-plated monstrosity bearing his name.

Brave Sir Donald ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Donald turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his cart,
He beat a very brave depart.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Donald!

Four million more people are going hungry thanks to SNAP cuts, and Brooke Rollins will be on TV somewhere this week, celebrating. Take a moment out of your week to really think about that.

Turned on House of the Dragon tonight and HBO served up ads for ReBath and a crappy video slots game, almost certainly at a very deep discount. Paramount’s going to be hard-pressed to afford serious programming at that rate.

So what did you talk to Mitch McConnell about for 20 minutes yesterday?

Grocery pricing, a 70-year retrospective:
1950s-1960s: prices stamped on packages, changed as stock turned over
1970s-1980s: prices stickered on packages, stickered over when prices increased
1990s-2010s: prices removed from packaging, displayed on shelf tags, replaced (or not) when prices increased

I ditched T-Mobile because they refused to offer me a phone deal that didn't involve taking on a plan with a far higher monthly rate, negating most of the phone savings (and getting Starlink pushed on me, not happening). That $4 will get a lot higher soon enough.

T-Mobile Is Automatically Pushing Legacy Customers Onto Its Current Plans
Some long-time subscribers could see a price increase of around $4 a line.

So the Amazon Fire Stick they keep nagging me to upgrade told me yesterday I didn't have room on it to update apps, so I deleted CBS, Paramount+, Spotify and (Fox-owned) Tubi, and now I do. Huzzah.

So Jesse Watters once heard the phrase "packing fudge" and has never stopped thinking about it, apparently.

Every so often I see a post about corporates bemoaning a lack of employee loyalty now and I do wonder why they think that a group of people treated like disposable machine parts, stripped of benefits, fired on a whim, with no promise of even a day's future security, should harbor loyalty.

Glad I didn't buy that Roku stick to replace my Fire stick now. Time to delete Tubi, though.

Buffalo Wild Wings paid Facebook to put an invitation in my feed to watch Trump's arena farce there, which confirms that I will continue not to patronize Buffalo Wild Wings for the foreseeable future. #consequences #eightysixfortyseven
