I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Amid all of the national news-making failures with the PGCPS Transportation Department yesterday, I am also hearing from the community that ICE raided the parent drop-off line at a PG school yesterday morning. If you're a local reporter who wants to know which school, DM me.
We have our child. A neighbor had a tracker on his daughter and he and my husband found the bus just sitting there and demanded our kids. There were lore kids on the bus and I am talking to principal and the other parents on a megachat now. This is not okay PGCPS Transportation wouldn’t tell the

Opinion | DoorDash is selling out D.C. over a 20-cent delivery tax
The food delivery platform backed legislation that would strip Washington, D.C., residents of power over their own taxes.

DoorDash is lobbying against DC Home Rule. Time to find another way to get your meals, because no one should support a company that works to deny democracy to DC residents.
DoorDash, in damage control mode, now claims it supports D.C. home rule and denies lobbying against it.

Here’s the letter their lobbyist wrote to Rep. Comer supporting his bill to ban D.C. from ever imposing or increasing a tax or fee without congressional approval. hillheat.com/files/492/DD...

Making it super expensive to operate streateries is quite possibly one of the dumbest public space decisions we've made as a city recently.

Streateries existing are a net public good. They make our neighborhoods livelier and more enjoyable to be in.
Hey, @aparnafordc.bsky.social , the Wonderland streetery is officially gone, which was the last on 11th St. A lively urban corridor, and incredible neighborhood amenity removed… for three parking spaces. Please fight for space for people, not cars.

This is your reminder that the DC metro area has had more ICE kidnappings per capita than any area of the country, and even the “good” folks still ignore it.
Increased activity, especially in the following cities:

1. Chicago, Illinois
2. Houston, Texas
3. Los Angeles, California
4. Miami, Florida
5. Dallas, Texas
6. Atlanta, Georgia
7. San Antonio, Texas
8. Las Vegas, Nevada
9. St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota
10. Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Believe Women is an epistemological stance. It doesn't mean you assume that every single woman is telling the truth and women never lie. It means you understand that in the system that we exist in, there's much more risk and pain for women coming forward about abuse than there is anything to gain.

The Trump administration is engaging in a bait and switch with Democratic governors, requesting troops to support the 250th then arming them with minimal pistol training and sending them out to patrol neighborhoods all over DC.

At what point will these governors learn not to feed the fascism?
In a first since Trump deployed the guard to D.C., Democrats are sending troops
Several Democratic governors have sent National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., ahead of America 250, amid President Trump's highly visible — and controversial — ongoing deployment to the city.

I am happy to report that the congressional disapproval period for both of these laws expired today. The FAAR Act and Body Worn Camera Act are now law, and any disapproval resolution passed regarding the laws will no longer have any legal effect
NEWS: Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tennessee) is moving to repeal two bills passed by the D.C. Council that require more transparency from federal agents working with MPD. One allows for the release of body-camera footage from MPD when an agent shoots, another collects names of agents at arrest scenes.
