Habs fan. English teacher. Mostly here to shoot the breeze about either.
Teaching high school in the Age of AI is like having front row seats to The Deluge.

I absolutely loathe how I no longer know if something is an actual story or if it's just chum from the Outrage Slop Bucket.

Like, was the Converse ad thing a real story, or did the Meta algorithm feed me a million posts because I clicked on one post?

A week ago I couldn't escape it. Now? Crickets.

There is no bottom for these losers.
So much care has been put into ensuring the people you’re “arresting” are not just nonwhite, but are various shades of brown. They don’t even have real faces but the White House was sure to get ten different skin tones, so every nonwhite group is well-represented www.whitehouse.gov/arcade/rio-r...

Whaddya think the odds are on whether there's some burlesque dancer somewhere whose stage name is Annie Gall?

These articles are really tiresome. The truth of the matter is that Paw Patrol is basically fine. Marshall is clumsy, Rocky hates water, yadda yadda.

Also, your kid will grow out of it really quickly, so worry about something more important, like the "goodnight nobody" page in Goodnight Moon

About thirty-five cents worth of Canadian Tire money. 😎
For a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include?

Old keys -- no one in the house knows what they're for but no one will throw them away . . . just in case
For a junk drawer to legally qualify as a real junk drawer, what is the ONE absolute mandatory item it must include?

A pile of dead and new batteries in every type and size except the one you currently need

Which number is more important and WHY ISN'T IT THE LARGER ONE!?!

I know I'm missing some, but so far in 2026 conservative media has decided to freak out over:

• the Super Bowl halftime show
• a figure skater's hair dye
• a film's casting choices

You know, the *really* important stuff.

For a second I thought this was one of those street performers who dress in silver and just stand there...
This monstrosity, the Charlie Kirk Monument, is set to be unveiled in New York’s Times Square on September 10. It was handcrafted by Italian sculptor Sergio Furnari. I give it 20 minutes.

Have you tested your smoke alarm lately?

We recommend testing them once a week and you should have one installed per floor of your home.

Jfc, I hate this future.
Marie Claire actually left a prompt from an AI in one of their recent articles.

While there’s still some great journalists and publications left, this is utterly shocking. No wonder I’m trying to pivot.

MLB has gotta nip this in the bud - any alterations to that game's approved uniform will result in an automatic ejection and possible suspension.

This cowardly hiding behind scripture shit is embarrassing. At least Yunel Escobar didn't pretend his bigotry was principled.

The thing no one warns you about before becoming a dad is all the weeping you'll do once they're born.

Try getting through a recital performance without tearing up...it's impossible.
I’m so sick of former bird app takes, I want to hear everyone’s parenting hot takes

Is there a way to stop posts from "what's hot classic" from showing up in my feed? I'm getting sick of blocking questionable content.

My preferred AI metaphor is actually Asbestos.

- Seemingly magical properties
- Developed and experimented with to make endless products
- Poisoned countless communities in it's creation
- Everything it was used for eventually becomes a toxic hazard to mitigate & it's in the fucking walls now
Trying out a new metaphor:

"A.i." = cocaine.

Cocaine is inevitable!

Cocaine can enhance your creativity!

Cocaine can make us all faster and more efficient!

If your kid doesn't learn how to use cocaine, they'll get left behind!
My bottom line: consumer-facing "A.i." is a dangerous product that seems to be damaging us individually and as a society. But it makes money for billionaires, so politicians are trying to find ways to push it on us everywhere.

That's like pushing cocaine on us because it makes money.

No thanks!

The biggest identifiable group of students being left behind are boys.
What's something that experts/practitioners in your field universally agree upon, but that remains a "hot take" among the general public?
