Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee on March 12, 2024, and within days, he started creating new companies and slapping his name on products.

He hasn't stopped since. The tally now stands at 81 new businesses—36 since taking office (he started two more while I was drafting this report)
Trump incorporated dozens of new companies in lead up to second term—and never stopped - CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington
Trump filed a financial disclosure in June revealing he brought in more than $2.2 billion in revenue during 2025. We found that more than a third of that revenue came from dozens of companies Trump ha...

I really need journalists to learn that every time OpenAI or Anthropic or xAI says that their model has broken containment and could destroy humanity that it’s a marketing pitch by companies running out of cash with high overheads and no profitable business model wanting more investment.

Yes, people like the woman in that clip being insulted, bullied and pushed around by comfortable, middle aged wankers has been the entire selling point of right wing politics for *at least* two decades. “We will harm people you irrationally hate and make them cry” is most of the sales pitch.
Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum.

Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.

I think this thread is very important. Free would be great but the stark reality is different. Workers at every level need to be paid. Operating costs matter as well. One final thing. Independent media matters more than ever.
Sometimes we receive complaints from people who want to read Flytrap content for free. We understand the frustration around paywalls in an increasingly dire financial landscape for many folks, so we also want to be honest about our financials. Let's talk about what it costs to run the Flytrap.

What makes this obscene is the building Trump's threatening to demolish if he doesn't get his way, is a *memorial* to a loved president who served his country and was assassinated while in office (two things Donald is yet to accomplish). It is like Trump threatening to jackhammer JFK's gravestone.

Trump: "We spent more than $2 billion in FEMA funding. You're waiting for some additional funding. I'm gonna get that to you. Now if Michael loses, I'm not sending it."

Brennan Center published a nice article about the dual strategy of disputing established polls and putting out low-quality or biased polls to muddy the waters on leading candidates. One worry is how this might mesh with GOP efforts to contest election results if/when they lose.
In the past six days six right-aligned pollsters have begun "flooding the zone," releasing eighteen polls in eleven battleground Senate races.

While they've done this before the pace and intensity of this effort is unprecedented, a reflection of their desperation. 1/

this is illegal, certainly under international law *binding on the united states*, on so many levels. and it's also yet another reason why the failure to close gtmo and to hold its originators to some account reverberates today.
This is APPALLING. The Trump administration is detaining multiple random Somali immigrants with no criminal record at Guantanamo Bay, seemingly because the White House ordered ICE specifically to detain Somalis at Gitmo as part of its effort to punish an ethnic group Trump has attacked.

As I said the first time Trump proposed tariffs: this is precisely why he likes them! It makes everyone come to him on bended knee, begging for exemptions. It makes economic survival dependent on his whim. That, not any economic theory, is the whole attraction. Mafia boss thinking.
While Sen. Katie Britt was publicly defending Trump's tariffs, she was privately seeking exemptions for 4 companies operating in Alabama that could be hurt by tariffs, according to emails between her staff & Trump's US Trade Representative, obtained via FOIA by @wsj.com. www.wsj.com/opinion/kati...

something i learned about journalism during the iraq war: all the outlets who had "access" to key figures - people like bush, cheney, rice, senior dems, etc - these are all the people who got the story wrong. it was the reporters working outside the system, usually far from dc, who got it right.

Reminder: Pro-authoritarian billionaire Robert Kraft's wife Dana Blumberg is among the Trump-appointed members of the Kennedy Center Board who voted to put Mobster Trump's name on the memorial & to also shut it down.

Robert Kraft & Dana Blumberg are who Ed Sheeran CHOOSES to associate himself with.

Immigrants are being denied or given redacted copies of their immigration records, documents which they need to prove their legal status in court. In some cases, the Trump Administration is even saying these records don’t exist even when lawyers know they do.

This is illegal.
