The most obvious thing in the world is still missing - let parents with strollers board the back doors and pay.

Good on the MTA to make more room for strollers though. These things help speed up busses.

The MTA said it wants riders to be able to convert two seats in the back of all buses into stroller parking by the end of the first quarter 2027.

this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta).

a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this):

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy?

In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

Wow. Just. Wow.

Every time I walk around the corner and dodge the rats or spilled debris from the pile of bags from the large building there it has its own psychich impact.

The thing is, doing sports like Norway (focused on fun, companionship, team spirit) rather than the US (focused on intensity, suffering, competition, which individual is "best") isn't just healthier & more pro-social, it produces *better athletes*.

Listen. I spent more than a decade as a theatrical technician, rigging stages, hanging lights, flying scenery, etc. The number of times I have dropped anything on a stage with performers on it is zero. The number of times I’ve dropped something that might’ve killed someone is zero. This is major.
The stage is falling apart at the rehearsal for Freedom 250's July 4th celebration.

Appeasement didn’t work in the 1930s. Why should anybody imagine it will succeed in the 2020s? Trump needs a sharp reminder that Europe stands together. One effective way would be for all their football teams to withdraw from the World Cup. The tournament would lose any credibility in that case!
