As you can see, perhaps even more than the ubiquitous presence of The Ocean, the dominating influence on life on The Island is the vast DayWalls, hundreds of strides tall and extending into the ocean between each Day.

So boat silhouettes are different than those of Earth: not tall and stately, but wide and sturdy, always with outriggers, usually trimarans…

...the islanders depend on the sea for a large part of their diet, even though The Island has abundant fruit, vegetables, and seeds. In fact, the plant life on The Island is completely capable of furnishing a standard humanite with all the nutrition they need... but the islanders do like their fish.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders The Island is the only permanent land on Celesta, so the worldwide ocean is a constant primary force in the lives of the people. With DayWalls separating the 6 inhabited "Days" (LastDay is uninhabited), travel is done via Celesta's colorful, wide, wing-sailed trimaran boats.

#SeptemberWorldbuilders A bit late on this one, but so far I know of 1 tradition & 1 "proscription": no seafood is served at LastDay Dinner, & it is forbidden to eat "land animals", which includes the feathered, flying "corbs". (No loss, as land critters taste awful.)
