I love the films of Toshiro Mifune, the music of Bowie, New England Sports, Beagles, a good plate of BBQ and a glass of Middleton's Extra Rare Irish Whiskey. I dream of publishing a novel, of walking in Monument Valley. and retiring to Ireland.

Goodbye my little man. For 17 2/3 years you were the bestest beagle in the whole world. Have fun on the other side of the rainbow chasing rabbits!

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

One of the more obscure facts I remember about Dolly Parton is this: just like Star Trek would not exist without Lucille Ball, Buffy would not exist without Dolly Parton. She was a silent producer of the movie and show. That's why Buffy Summers has the same birthday as Dolly: January 19.

Just watched first episode of LANTERNS. Wow! Just fantastic all around.

And now, god help us, we are going to re-watch the Ryan Reynolds’s movie.

Saw The Odyssey the other day (which I liked quite a lot, but did not love). Re-watching Oppenheimer today.

Christopher Nolan, it occurs to me, is the David Lean of this generation. He only seems to make giant epics.

In related news, people trading stocks using Margin has dramatically increased. Margin Debt now stands at about $1.5 Trillion. During the lead-up to the Dotcom bubble (1999) and the Financial Bubble (2007) margin also increased dramatically. What we're seeing with AI fits the same pattern.

The more I watch #From, the more I think the writers haven't a clue how to end it. So many pointless subplots. So many vague hints given to people and never explaining WHY people are supposed to follow these hints. So much changing of the rules to prevent any forward movement towards getting home.

I do not know a lot about soccer, but I know enough to know that you don't just let Argentina possess the ball for 30 minutes nonstop and not expect them to score at least once. Incredibly stupid play from England after they took the lead.

England stopped playing to win and started playing not to lose with like 30 minutes to go. Absolutely awful coaching decision.
