It's mostly forgotten now, because that's how it goes with memes, but the original "Vibes? Papers? Essays? Losers" tweet was posted on 10/8 to mock anyone who dared think that massacring civilians by the hundred was bad, and that was very much a prevailing sentiment in some corners
i don't like to pick fights on the internet. but i also don't like the tendency i've seen on here to whitewash what was actually said on 10/8. here, for instance, is what the people's forum had to say about 10/7: that it was heroic, liberatory, righteous.

I think a classic example of this was when the endlessly tedious "Poppywatch" account tweeted a picture of Prince Philip in uniform at the Festival of Remembrance with "what did you get those medals for, Phil?" when the response was "he's a Second World War veteran who was Mentioned in Despatches?"

The Tyburn Gospels The exact provenance of the unpleasant volume known as the Tyburn Gospels or 'The Dyvrse ad Most Accurayt Prophecys of ye Hanged Man' is unknown. Speculation, of course, is rife among those lucky (or unlucky) few who are aware of its existence as anything other than an offhand comment in an excised entry from the diaries of the antiquarian, John Loveday. Purportedly composed by an itinerant engraver named John Ashbless in 1759, the volume consists of twenty-three 'prophecies' - supposedly delivered by the highwayman William Pentworth as he hung from Tyburn Tree - the infamous gallows that occupied what is today the junction of Edgeware Road, Bayswater Road and Oxford Street until the 18th century.

This reminds me of an ADB short story about the Black Templars (Imperial Fists successors who have a crusading Teutonic knight thing going on) and the Celestial Lions (Imperial Fists successors who have an African thing going on) where it’s cool to see the aspects of Dorn reflected differently.
Yeah I was thinking that if you look at, like, Named Characters Who Get A Model then 40k seems very white indeed. But if you look at the broader lore (including things like TV shows) then it's not especially white. I genuinely don't get why that difference.
