I’ve only been here a few hours and met some lovely people already. Thank you for saying hello.
Thought I’d drop in one of my favourite photos. It helped win me a portfolio commendation in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards. Taken in a snowstorm on the slopes of Arthur’s Seat.
An iPhone shot as I was wandering around the Dunbar Art Walk venues yesterday and didn’t have my tripod. Now I’ll need to go back and shoot it properly as I really need more boat photos! (Not) 🫣

There’s only a few hours to go to vote in the British Photography Awards and if you are so inclined you can even vote for mine! 😁

I’m quite amazed there aren’t more Aurora photos for #sharemondays2026 but it’s all I have this week. Revisited an old location after the best of the display had passed. Interesting to see how much it has changed in ten years.

A yacht owner came up to me and asked what I was photographing. “A sunset” I replied. He looked at me quizzically, then I showed him the back of my camera.

Delighted to hear that two of my works have been selected to be shown at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy as part of Visual Arts Scotland’s exhibition in January 2027.

They’re part of my current project “Where the Boats Lie” which I’m hoping will come together in various forms next year too

Continuing a series where I’m revisiting a trip to Colonsay and sharing a few of the wonderful textures and patterns along its varied coastline. This was an outbuilding but it was beside the beach!

Revisiting a trip to Colonsay over the next few posts, and the wonderful textures and patterns along its coastline. This was simply about the subtleties of light and shade on the sand.

A tale of two castles. Kilchurn in the rain the day before presented little to photograph and then Castle Stalker the next morning in quiet but changeable conditions. At least it brought a bit of colour, and a few otters to watch.

A repost for #fsprintmonday &
#sharemondays2026 as I haven’t had any time to edit anything else yet!
I went to the west coast to photograph some castles, but found a couple of cracking boats in a tiny breakers yard in Appin. I’ve not seen this colour scheme before and the textures in the old timbers were fantastic. I couldn’t resist stopping in the torrential rain for a few photos.

So much rust and flaking paint. Little Jack lay with her guts stripped out on the shoreline.
