I keep seeing videos of a guy who catches crabs and lobsters, cracks all the barnacles off them, puts a shrimp in their claws and throws them back. can you imagine. abducted by aliens but they just give you a spa day and hand you two hot dogs and let you go

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

In conclusion, A Night to Remember is shorter, more affecting (the panic and fairhanded idiocy and selflessness the second they start loading people into lifeboats is done way better) and there's less soapy dramatics and shenanigans than Titanic. Sorry James Cameron fans. (on itvx)
I'm not even ten minutes into A Night to Remember (1950s Titanic film) and it's so deeply cynical. workhouse kids being lined up and prodded to wave the squire off joyfully 'so they'll get a good turkey as their christmas present'.

just remembered my sister in law asked mum why she didn't teach bro to cook and she said she hadn't taught either of us.
I otoh hung out in the kitchen watching dad cook, cooked basics from teens and had to ring up parents from uni asking for a translation of recipe terms. 'oh *that*.'
