Sorry but no, it is in fact notable that the US is doing something only very extremist regimes do. To willingly abandon “this isn’t who we are” as a response is to throw away a very powerful rhetorical weapon.

What is the solution? Probably a contract for split residuals similar to the one Lin-Manuel Miranda used to compensate historian Ron Chernow for his biography of Hamilton, which was the basis for the musical. Yes, this kind of legal arrangement can be done post-hoc. bsky.app/profile/pat....
One popular model to look at might be Hamilton. -- Miranda earns 7.5 percent of adjusted box office on Broadway and up to 8.5 percent of adjusted box office out-of-town. Of that, he gives up about 1 percentage point to Hamilton biographer Ron Chernow for the "underlying rights."

I've spent the last two months putting together this exhaustive analysis of the New York Times coverage of trans people. It covers 3,242 articles over 12 years.

In 2022, the NYT shifted towards a hostile stance towards trans people in their framing.

I did not care for the Testament of Ann Lee even leaving aside that Amanda Seyfried says, to a minister in the Church of England in the 1760s, "I am a bride of Christ, just like nuns in your church," although that admittedly annoyed me enough that I tweeted about it when I was in the bathroom

For those not fluent in Catholic: refusing the Monstrance is not denying prisoners the Eucharist, it is refusing Christ himself, since Christ is present in the Monstrance.

If Portland’s blow up animals are the right language for Portland, this is the right language for Chicago.
Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”
