When I was biking down the Pacific Coast I met a guy from Trois Rivières, Quebec. He had ridden from his home to the Pacific and was planning to keep riding to the Grand Canyon after hitting the southern border.

For 20+ years my mom has spent a few months a year in Malawi helping them develop early literacy programs. I just learned that many of her friends there learned how to speak English from listening to Dolly Parton sing.
