So (if I understand this correctly), the way AI (companies) will "solve" all the major problems in maths, biology, and medicine in the next 5 years will be by stealing and building on the ideas of researchers naive enough to think their chats with AI companies would be private.

The POTUS who tried to fight green energy is probably going to have done more to advance green energy than any other President, because closing the Strait for this long has moved so many countries to get away from oil and gas faster.

Earlier this year, I made the grounded case for why we should still believe in the promise of America.

Today’s America is something we inherited. But tomorrow’s is still for us to make. America’s problems are solved problems. The blueprints exist. Better days are ahead.

Selective Service registration becoming automatic while voter registration becomes subject to more constraints is emblematic of the entire problem. Their power over us is assumed. Our power over them is subject to their limitations. The Revolution demanded the inverse. Jesus too, FYI.

Surveillance is a one-way ratchet toward authoritarianism. Yes, even by private companies. Even when people “consent.” Even when the company gives you “free” stuff, or let you stand in a shorter line, or make your life more convenient somehow.
What's something that experts/practitioners in your field universally agree upon, but that remains a "hot take" among the general public?

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

In no real surprise to anyone, the tariffs and their overturning result in a massive transfer of money from the people to corporations.

The media failed to convey this clearly from the start, and still fails to convey it even now.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.
