Like no, I'm sorry, but it's not okay or acceptable for Democratic candidates to be going around calling trans girls (literally children) "men." Acton and Sand and Turek shouldn't do that. It's unnecessarily cruel, it's dehumanizing, it's disrespectful.

Like, guys, I've voted for every single Democratic presidential candidate since Kerry when I turned 18 in 2004. I will almost certainly vote for the Democratic candidate in 2028. But I need politicians and Dem voters to dial way, way, way back on the overt transphobia.

And that's also why Democrats struggled, generally, in 2024: people felt like the world was getting worse. And no amount of, "actually, things are great. Don't you know how much worse things would be under Trump?" changes that feeling. Even if it's true, it's not a great motivator.

But beyond that, there's an uncomfortable reality that centrists won't acknowledge: no matter how "pro-trans" Biden's administration was, trans rights got a whole lot worse between the years 2021 and 2025. Obviously, it was good that his administration did pro-trans things, but that's the reality.

I think part of the reason centrists do this kind of stuff is so they can justify why trans people "deserve" whatever happens to us. They do this with "the left," too, claiming "leftists" refused to vote for Harris, but these are all ridiculous overgeneralizations

For one, trans people (and LGBTQ people, generally) are some of the most loyal Democratic voters out there. That's just a fact. Trans people voted overwhelmingly Dem, both for Biden and Harris www.them.us/story/lgbtq-...

Over the past couple of days, I've seen a lot of cis people say some version of, "Biden was the most pro-trans president ever, and you wouldn't vote for him, so now this is what you get."

And it's just really weird for a few reasons.

Any who is advising Democrats to find the center, as they have for the last decade, should just go the fuck away.

Their time has passed. They don’t understand this moment and the dire need to not give ground—especially on stuff like trans rights.

I finally got around to seeing In Bruges and remain convinced that Marin McDonagh is only as good as the actors he works and is both far too literal and far too mean-sprinted for the kind of catharsis he wants to evoke in the audience.

make sure you get your talking points about trans people from the death lords, that way we can get them on our side and only have to kick trans people to the curb and then we’ll be so loved by the death lords all our problems will get fixed magically!

At the small pizza shop I help run we actually *don’t* have garlic knots and people get mad when we suggest, as an alternative to a thing we don’t have, our Marinara pizza which has, you know, some garlic, red sauce and Parmesan…
me: hi gimme a large pizza

pizza guy: any appetizers?

me: what do you have?

pizza guy: we've got fried cheese with no sauce or crust, crust with no cheese or sauce, and crust and cheese with no sauce

me: gimme crust and cheese with no sauce

pizza guy: and for your dip?

me: sauce

we don’t teach young people short-term history, so it was weird when i realized that gen z had no idea that so many gen x and millennials spent our high school years protesting george w bush

and not just because of the wars, but because mosques were being targeted and sikh men were being attacked
There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

I think we should encourage all these dipshits to stand up and scream loudly that they were part of DOGE’s lethal purge programs tbh. Let’s make a special degree they can all get.
According to new documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, an undergraduate working with DOGE requested that his work for HUD count toward his University of Chicago degree.
