the whimsy kinda dies after Meddle

weirdly it does sorta come back with The Wall (yes Roger, the tuba music with silly voices is perfect for the climax of your story) but that’s its own can of worms

but idk Meddle has a cute bluesy song about a dog named Seamus (he’s barking the whole time)

it’s not a good song but it’s so silly i can’t help but kind of love it

also San Tropez, another cute song about being on vacation and missing your wife, i like the laid back vibe

the album that followed was Dark Side of the Moon, which I really appreciate and love because it’s kind of impeccable: back to back bangers with a great flow and cool sounds and an approachable concept. undoubtedly a more focused listening experience than Meddle

the album on the whole kinda sits at the intersection between the 60s and 70s

it still has some of that bros hanging out making fun music vibe but the Pink Floyd sound is there for 2 tracks

after Meddle their stuff sounds both far less cosmic and surreal but also far less relaxed and low-stakes

i personally see the film as a weird freaky action thriller with great animation and music, but also one that is ultimately built around the relationship between two characters (though it is unabashedly violent and i do enjoy the body horror elements)
