This bear has been all over my parents' mountain town and it can to open Subaru doors. It opened three of my step dad's Forester (not this truck) doors by pulling the handles and then left without doing damage. Luckily they leave their car doors unlocked because bears can tear off car doors.

trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family

being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

But whatever we do, there must first and foremost be accountability. We take back everything that was stolen. We make amends and reparations to the extent possible.

We unseat everyone who has allowed this to happen.

The reason gay marriage worked as a wedge issue is because it went undefended at the top level for so long.

The moment it started to be defended, it stopped being a magical wand that Karl Rove could wave to scare people.

Courage is the path to victory.

The first photo here is fake. A still from the same moment shows that Trump's head wasn't drooping like that. Also, he'd just adjusted his tie, which is why the guy two to the left of RFK is looking at him. Actual still at right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ctx...

On 16th March, 1968 Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jnr was flying helicopter recon for a US attack on My Lai, an alleged Viet Cong-controlled village in Vietnam.

But as the attack developed below, Thompson realised he was witnessing something something else:

A massacre.

He decided to act. 1/28

Never fund DHS again. Abolish it completely.

If someone wants to moan about "but but we have to ____" yeah fine we can discuss a new department, but *this* department has to go.

Any ideas how to mute the Coffee Klatch from the Discworld feed? I'm sure Robert Reich is a decent fella but I don't want quite so much news on my fantasy feed. Muting robertreich.substack.com didn't work

"and some, i assume, are good people" is definitely part of my speech. so is "open the schools."
I genuinely hate how many Trumpisms have worked their way into my daily speech. He operates at the perfect level of buffoonery.

Denver averages about 12 winter days at 60°+ per winter season. They happen.

But 35 winter days at 60°+ doesn't happen, at least until 2026.

There’s a term for this experience (which I imagine many of us are having):

Moral injury.

Moral injury is the distress that occurs in response to betrayal by authority structures and being unable to prevent acts that go against one’s deeply held values and moral beliefs.
A sense of betrayal is a very tricky kind of grief to manage, because you're grieving someone who never really existed.

I've always held a pretty dim view of the US establishment & its institutions. After Trump's reelection and the Epstein files, though... I realize that even so, I feel betrayed.
