This past summer, I revisited a novella I'd started crafting years ago. Once completed, I queried it to a small press that seemed a perfect match for genre and style. Today, I received this response: "Dear [me], We [...) would love to see your full manuscript." This is a first. Fingers crossed.

In my small town, the seniors are being herded like cattle into apartments owned by a very wealthy developer. This is a prime example of an "extractive institution", a political and economic system designed to extract income and wealth from the majority to benefit a small elite.

That New Brunswick, most often the poorest province, finished at the bottom on PISA is no surprise.
The problem lies with leadership from the very top in Fredericton, at district offices and in schools. That bad teachers end up "leading", teaching teachers or as admin is a truth there.

Canadians are standing up to American fascism while Americans lie down for it. But, they will thank us at the midterms, and when they mete out punishment to collaborators when finally free of tyranny, they should send them north to walk the gauntlet again.

Cumberland-North in Nova Scotia continues to suffer because its "independent" MLA is unwilling and unable to stick to her lane and to matters that are dire to her own backyard. Here she is sticking her nose in a riding not her own. This is why people can't work with her.

I say let the bastids wear patches around like they're peacocks. Maybe then the public will realize that they have been allowed to waltz about with impunity filling our streets with fentanyl and engaging in human sex trafficking. Maybe then people will realize they do no good for our communities.
