One last puppy pile before tomorrow.

Lilith spent the evening doing what puppies should do: playing with her brothers until everyone fell asleep.

Tomorrow, she goes home.

My heart is full, and a little broken, all at the same time. That's fostering.

Sweet dreams, little diva. 💜🐾

A year ago, I was preparing to defend my dissertation.

Today I'm a faculty member, cancer survivor, mentor, & husband.

In July, I'm launching a new YouTube channel:
From Here to There with Dr. Curtis Ladrillo Chamblee

Because we're all trying to get from here to there.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, I will ceremonially be hooded as Dr. Curtis Ladrillo Chamblee after earning my PhD in Communication and Media from The University of Memphis.

What a journey this has been. Grateful for everyone who helped carry me to this moment.

Ashé. Mahal. Salamat.

If you cannot recognize the humanity of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, how can I expect you to recognize mine as an Afro-Filipino person?

In 24 hours, all roads converge—on Mom’s birthday.
Grief. Heartache. Every page, every prayer—it all leads to tomorrow, May 20, 1–3 CST.
This defense is for Mom, for Godiva, for every version of me that survived.

In less than 3 days, I defend my dissertation: Tell Me a Story About Home: Black Masculinity Through the Lens of Place, Relationships, and Discourse in the MCU.

This work asks: How do place, relationships, and discourse shape identity?

Almost Dr. Chamblee.

What happened to basic manners?!

In the last week:
I had stomach issues
Someone spit their drink on me (seriously?!)
Today, a student coughed without covering their mouth;
Now my throat is starting to feel scratchy. WHY?! Y’all, cover your mouths when you cough and sneeze! It’s not hard!

Feeling a bit melancholy today. I am choosing to honorDr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s today—his life is a reminder of the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead. Reflecting on the weight of these moments and the dreams that continue to push us forward.
