Today in Mesa, Ariz., there was a memorial for a Sikh man killed while planting flowers around his gas station to remember 9/11 victims. Balbir Singh Sodhi was killed by a white man looking for a brown person to murder for 9/11. Other shootings and hate crimes would occur for similar reasons.
At the memorial for Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh man murdered 25 years ago today by a white man seeking “revenge” for 9/11. This was a defining event for the south asian American community, the first murder in a wave of violence and hate that would impact brown people across America.

Our recent summers are going to be some of the coolest we experience in our lifetime. I study past climates, and I can say: No place will be insulated from change. 🧵 on extreme heat, who carries it, and what communities are doing about it.

“Ontario” is a Wendat word for beautiful water. The lake had that name long before Canada, the US, or Amerigo Fucken Vespucci were even out here. I don’t think she cares what this flapping neck says, he’ll be gone in a blink and she’ll still be here.
Donald Trump escalated his confrontation with Ottawa, ordering his government to 'immediately' change the name of Lake Ontario, which sits between Canada and the US, to 'Lake America'. ft.trib.al/0OevWwN

KKK flyers.
