Disabled people, like anyone else, may not want to be filmed by strangers in their day-to-day lives—and are uniquely affected by surveillance in ways that predate smart glasses.
Is Meta using disabled people to promote its glasses?
AI glasses are a double-edged sword for disabled people, who face unique risks from surveillance.

Do you know how it felt to open a writing app that claimed to analyze your writing for optimization and discover that my books were inside its system? I had never spoken to these people. they hadn't asked for a license or permission or *anything.* and that all the big AI companies had done it too?
“A senior executive at Microsoft said A.I. systems built on the work of others will be seen as ‘an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions’ and possibly the greatest robbery of labor in human history, according to court documents unredacted Thursday in an ongoing Manhattan lawsuit.”
Docs in A.I. copyright suit reveal startling admission by Microsoft exec over ‘astonishing theft’
The admission appeared in a newly unredacted filing in the landmark copyright infringement legal battle playing out between newspapers like the Orlando Sentinel and tech companies Microsoft and OpenAI...

I was a lifelong liberal Democrat AI executive, and favor Universal Basic Income as a way to cushion the disruption AI will cause to the labor markets. Then I learned about Social Security.
The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security

sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible

every billionaire & tech mogul, they all want to be adored & celebrated without doing the things Dolly did with a fraction of the power & money. What she had, she gave away. I'm sure she was comfortable (& that's good!). But she just relentlessly helped. It's not that difficult. Love. Care. Help. 💚🌸

I don’t know who needs to hear this… but all those art supplies sitting unused in your totes? They’re made to be used. Fuck them up. Get them dirty. Use the markers til the ink is dry. Use all the super glue. Paint til your paint is gone.

MAKE. ART.

The world needs it now more than ever.

I did a bit of very minor digging and Taylor Farms also sells under the brands Earthbound Farm and Eat Smart. In addition to Taco Bell they also supply to Chipotle, McDonald's, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster.

Are these compromised? Who fucking knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ but better safe than sorry.
Props to consumer reports for their journalism here.

Since Taylor foods and the FDA are not disclosing where all the lettuce went they’re doing a great job trying to figure out the details.

For now they’re recommending everyone trash all their iceberg.

The way to stop the "don't speak ill of the dead" discourse on Bluesky is to stop reporting on people on other sites and news networks that are scolding people for it.

I sincerely doubt it's being said HERE. Merely "reported on" here. Which is completely unnecessary, y'know? Block 'em if they are.

"Rape exceptionalism" means that society revels in detailed stories of sexual violence because we imagine that those who commit sexual violence are "monsters" and the victims are forever "ruined." And it means that people ignore how regular folks commit sexual violence and are victims of it, too.
