I think Star Wars should have stuck with the in=Darth naming convention, a la Invader = Darth Vader. There's already Darth Sidious in the lore, but we missed out on Darth Terminable. Darth Festation. Darth Comprehensible. Darth Telligence. Darth Convenient. Darth Teresting. Darth Terior.

"You want the option to be able to take your foot off the gas and put your foot on the brake", [Anthropic founder] Clark told the BBC. "Right now, it's like the AI industry has a gas pedal, but it doesn't have a brake pedal."
Whoa, that's wild, bro. Do you know anyone you can talk to about that?

Hey Spotify, if I keep hiding the same song in various lists, maybe take a hint that I don't like that song, yeah?

Sure, seagulls may steal your food and poop all over the place, but at least they also squawk all night right outside your window.

I've been trying to follow more book-related accounts on social, which is great if you want to be recommended the same 9 books over and over again. Oh, is R.F. Kuang's Babel good? I wouldn't have guessed from the other 9000 recommendations.

Along with all the other downsides of AI, I *hate* the noun "compute".

Duh, everyone knows you can't say shit to Ninğišzida.
Reading some mesopotamian proverbs and I love how they swing between immediately intuitive and nearly indecipherable

Can we all agree to stop using "judgment" and just stick with the obviously superior "judgement"?

Should I take a stab at telling a Caesar joke?
I’d tell a joke about Lot’s wife but it’s a bit salty.
I'd tell my Heraclitus joke but it's different every time.

Learning other languages is fascinating. For instance, in Turkish, the way to say "good morning" is "günaydin". When you break it down, you get "gün" = day, "ay" = moon", and "din" = 2nd person past tense marker. So "günaydin" literally means "You day mooned". Amazing!

.
This is definitely true...

Americans, you have about 9 months to make a plan for voting in the midterms. Plenty of time to ensure you are registered to vote. Plenty of time to make sure you have the correct documents to prove you are eligible to vote. Apply for a passport. And check frequently that you’re registered. #vote

My very favorite thing to do is click the "remember me" and "leave me signed in" options on some website or app and then have to enter my user name and password every time I return to them. Just so much fun.
