Britain is getting 29 new battery-electric trains. Built in Derby.

And these aren’t little branch-line trains.
The new TransPennine Express will be 121 metres long, carry around 300 passengers and travel at up to 110mph.

When manufacturers put large screens in cars, I can’t fathom why they want them out of sight. A lot of functionality will on into that large screen.

In the olden days, like this Nissan Qashqai fro 15 years ago, it didn’t matter as much because it displayed the radio station.

It’s perhaps forgivable in the inexpensive MG, or the cheap-as-chips Leapmotor T03. But in my humble opinion it’s less forgivable in a car that starts at £110,000.

Is this for aesthetics? Am I wrong to point it out?
Whatever your comments, I’m just not keen!

🖥️ Low Mounted Screens Rant-ette 🖥️

One of my bugbears found in some cars - including our own 23-reg MG ZS EV - is the low mounted central screen. It’s a long way down from the windscreen with eyes very much off the road to look at it.

Well, somethings burst because they’re everywhere now.

These two graphs are good. Diesel showing its peak and demise, whilst EVs keep on rising without fail.

I don’t have data on individual makes and models as to which are fleet favourites, however, fleet registrations are decline and private purchases are increasing, and that has been the trend this year.
