Lowering the temperature: when not to use AI jargon
How we describe AI should change with the audience. Staff, leadership, and practitioners each need a different vocabulary, and only one needs the jargon.

Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Trump whispering has previously proved to be more like playing the slot machine than actual influencing and negotiation. Maybe time to remind Europeans that the EU was established out of nationalist interest to begin with. It's not a utopia but way better than everyone for themselves.

Great article, offering some clear and straightforward ideas for why and how to actively defend our liberal democracies
My pre-accounced piece in @prospectmagazine.co.uk is out today. I returned to regular op-Ed writing for "Super Election Year 2024" and this is the Grand Finale. I am very proud of this piece, and hope it is read, but will return to (much) lower profile next year.

A quick thread on the key points. 🧵
Democracy is in a doom spiral—but it isn’t dead yet
The far right thrived in 2024, and the erosion of liberal democracy is the  story of the century so far. It didn’t have to be this way

Georgia is going full Euromaidan, and the pro-Kremlin bloc is doing what they do best - intimidate, imprison and beat up people.

Stay strong my Georgian friends, you will prevail! 🇬🇪

Love this fresh start. Especially knowing it's a fresh start for the majority this time round
